You may notice that a contact's job title in Cognism differs from what is displayed on LinkedIn, a company website, or another data provider.
This article explains why job titles may vary.
Job Titles Change Frequently
Professionals regularly receive promotions, change departments, or move into new roles.
As Cognism continuously updates its database, there may be a short period where different sources display different job titles.
Different Sources Use Different Information
Job titles displayed by Cognism are based on the information available at the time the contact record was last verified.
Other platforms may display:
- More recent updates.
- Older information.
- A simplified job title.
- A custom title entered by the individual.
As a result, titles may not always match exactly.
Multiple Active Roles
Some professionals hold more than one position within the same organisation or across multiple companies.
In these cases, Cognism may display the title associated with a specific employment record, while another platform may display a different active role.
Data Is Continuously Updated
Cognism regularly reviews and refreshes contact information as new verified data becomes available.
If a contact's role has recently changed, the updated title will be reflected once it has been sourced and verified.
Reporting Incorrect Information
If you believe a job title is incorrect, you can report the contact by clicking the Flag icon next to the contact's email address or phone number in the Cognism Chrome Extension, or contact Cognism Support if the reporting option is unavailable.
