You may notice that a contact you previously viewed is no longer available in Cognism.
This article explains why a contact record may be removed from the platform.
Continuous Data Quality Reviews
Cognism continuously reviews and updates its database to maintain the quality and accuracy of its data.
During these reviews, records may be updated, merged, or removed if they no longer meet Cognism's quality standards.
Employment Changes
A contact may no longer appear if they have:
- Left their previous employer.
- Retired.
- Changed roles and their previous record is no longer valid.
- Been replaced by an updated contact record.
Where appropriate, a new record reflecting the contact's current employment may become available.
Data Quality Improvements
Records may also be removed when:
- Duplicate contacts are identified.
- Contact information can no longer be verified.
- The available information is no longer considered reliable.
Removing outdated records helps improve the overall quality of the Cognism database.
Privacy and Compliance
In some cases, records may be removed or become unavailable to comply with applicable privacy laws or following a valid request from the data subject.
Can the Contact Be Restored?
If a contact has been removed due to data quality or compliance reasons, it cannot be manually restored.
If the contact becomes available again through Cognism's sourcing and verification processes, a new record may appear in the platform.
