Configure how Do Not Call (DNC) numbers are displayed in the Cognism Legacy Platform.
Administrators can control whether users can view DNC numbers for specific countries, helping organisations balance compliance requirements with their prospecting needs.
Important: DNC visibility settings are configured at the account level. Any changes apply to all users within your organisation.
Before You Begin
Ensure that:
- You are logged in to the Cognism Legacy Platform.
- You have administrator permissions.
Only administrators can modify DNC settings.
Access DNC Settings
- Click your user avatar in the upper-right corner.
- Select Settings.
- Select Data Management.
How DNC Numbers Work
By default, DNC numbers are hidden for all supported countries.
When a number is hidden:
- It appears as Hidden (DNC) in the Cognism Legacy Platform.
- It appears as Hidden (DNC) in the Cognism Chrome Extension.
- The phone number cannot be viewed by users.
Verified mobile numbers may still belong to a national Do Not Call registry and are hidden by default.
Note: Numbers registered on the TPS (Telephone Preference Service) or CTPS (Corporate Telephone Preference Service) are never displayed, regardless of your DNC visibility settings.
Configure DNC Number Visibility
To allow users to view DNC numbers for a specific country:
- Locate the country in the Do Not Call settings.
- Clear the checkbox for the relevant country.
- Click Save Changes.
Once saved, all users in your organisation can view DNC numbers for that country.
Visible numbers remain clearly labelled with a DNC indicator to help users identify contacts that are registered on a Do Not Call list.
Troubleshooting
Why is the phone number displayed as "Hidden (DNC)"?
The number belongs to a country where DNC numbers are currently hidden, or it is registered on a Do Not Call list.
Why can't I change DNC settings?
Only administrators can modify Compliance Settings.
Why are TPS and CTPS numbers still hidden?
Numbers registered on the TPS or CTPS are never displayed and cannot be made visible through the DNC settings.
Do DNC settings affect all users?
Yes. DNC visibility is configured at the organisation level. Changes apply to every user within your Cognism account.
