Learn about the available user roles in the Cognism Legacy Platform and the permissions assigned to each role.
Assigning the appropriate role helps ensure users have the correct level of access while protecting administrative settings.
Available User Roles
The Cognism Legacy Platform includes the following user roles:
- Admin
- Team Lead
- User
Admin
Administrators have full access to the Cognism Legacy Platform.
Admins can:
- Invite new users.
- Deactivate users.
- Create and manage teams.
- Assign user roles.
- Configure Single Sign-On (SSO).
- Manage credit allocations.
- Access organisation settings.
This role should be assigned only to users responsible for administering your Cognism account.
Administrators cannot:
- Delete another user's saved lists.
- Delete another user's saved searches.
- Delete another user's saved searches or other personal workspace items.
- Permanently delete user accounts from the platform.
Only the user who created these items can delete or manage them.
Team Lead
Team Leads can manage their team's activity without having full administrative access.
Depending on your organisation's configuration, Team Leads can:
- View their team's activity.
- Manage their assigned team.
- Access team-level information and reporting.
Team Leads cannot manage organisation-wide settings or administrative configuration.
User
Users have access to the Cognism platform features included in your subscription.
Users can:
- Search for contacts and companies.
- Reveal and export data (subject to available credits and permissions).
- Create and manage their own work within the platform.
Users cannot manage other users, teams, or organisation settings.
Changing a User's Role
To update a user's role:
- Click your user avatar.
- Select Settings.
- Open Users & Teams.
- Select the Users tab.
- Click the Edit icon next to the user.
- Select the appropriate role.
- Save your changes.
The new permissions take effect immediately. Only an Admin can change the user role.
Best Practices
- Assign the Admin role only to users responsible for managing your Cognism account.
- Use the Team Lead role for users responsible for supervising teams.
- Assign the User role to standard platform users who do not require administrative access.
