This article covers common issues that may occur when exporting records from Cognism to Bullhorn and explains how to resolve them.
Most Bullhorn export errors are caused by integration connectivity, unsupported mappings, required Bullhorn configuration, or Bullhorn validation rules. Reviewing the complete error message is the quickest way to identify the cause.
Before you troubleshoot
Before investigating an export issue, check that:
- The Bullhorn integration is connected.
- You are signed in to Bullhorn.
- Your Bullhorn subscription includes the Leads and Opportunities paid add-on.
- Your field mappings have been configured.
- You have permission to access the Bullhorn objects you are exporting to.
- You have the complete error message returned during export.
Field mappings are not loading
Symptoms
The Bullhorn integration connects successfully, but field mappings do not load.
Possible causes
This issue commonly occurs when:
- The Bullhorn integration has disconnected.
- Your Bullhorn subscription does not include the Leads and Opportunities paid add-on.
Resolution
- Reconnect the Bullhorn integration.
- Refresh the integration page.
- If mappings still do not appear, verify that your Bullhorn subscription includes the Leads and Opportunities paid add-on.
- If the issue continues, contact your Bullhorn Administrator.
Error 400 – Dropped Integration
Symptoms
Exports fail with a 400 error or the Bullhorn integration is no longer available.
Cause
The Bullhorn integration has disconnected.
Resolution
Reconnect the Bullhorn integration.
If the issue affects all users, confirm that the administrator connection is also still active before attempting another export.
Existing Company mapping cannot be used on Leads
Symptoms
You attempt to map the Existing Company field on the Lead object but exports fail or the field does not behave as expected.
Cause
Bullhorn expects a Company ID for this field rather than a company name.
Because the Cognism integration is one-way, Cognism cannot retrieve Bullhorn Company IDs during export.
Resolution
The Existing Company lookup field cannot be used for Cognism exports.
Instead, use supported Company field mappings or allow Cognism's matching logic to associate existing Company records automatically where applicable.
Country defaults to United States
Symptoms
Exported records always show United States as the country, even when another country was exported.
Cause
Bullhorn uses a compound Address field with an internal country picklist.
If the Cognism country values do not match Bullhorn's country codes, Bullhorn defaults the country to United States.
Resolution
Configure the Bullhorn country mappings.
Step 1 – Configure Bullhorn
- Log in to Bullhorn.
- Navigate to Menu → Admin → Field Mapping.
- Locate the countryID field under the Lead mappings.
- Paste the Bullhorn country codes into the Value List.
- Paste the country names into the Display Value List.
- Save your changes.
Step 2 – Configure Cognism
- Open the Bullhorn integration in Cognism.
- Refresh the page and wait a few minutes.
- Map Cognism Country to the Bullhorn Country (Address) field.
- Open the Advanced mapping options.
- Map any remaining country values that do not automatically align.
- Save the mapping and test another export.
If required, refer to the Bullhorn Country Codes CSV provided by Bullhorn.
