Configure how Cognism exports contacts and companies to HubSpot. Export settings allow administrators to control whether existing records are updated and how fields are presented to users during the export process.

These settings apply to all users in your Cognism account.

Before You Begin

Ensure that:

The HubSpot integration has been configured.
You are a Cognism Admin.
Field mappings have been configured.

Open HubSpot Export Settings

In the Cognism Web App, click your User Avatar.
Select Settings.
Open Integrations.
Select HubSpot.
Click the Settings icon.

The export settings are organised into:

General
Contacts
Companies

Configure Update Rules

Update Rules determine what happens when Cognism finds a matching record in HubSpot during export.

You can choose to:

Update existing Contact and Company records
Do not update existing records

If updates are disabled, Cognism only creates new records when no existing match is found.

Note: Cognism first checks for existing records using its matching logic before applying the configured update rule.

Configure Field Behaviour

For each mapped field, administrators can control how users interact with it during export.

Read Only

When enabled, users cannot change the value during export.

This is useful for fields that should always contain a consistent value, such as:

Lead Source
Data Provider
Custom source fields

Visible

When enabled, the field is displayed in the export window before the record is exported.

When disabled, the field is still exported using the configured mapping, but users cannot see or edit it during export.

This is useful for background fields that users do not need to review.

Recommended Configuration

For consistent data quality, we recommend:

Marking system-managed fields as Read Only.
Hiding fields that users do not need to review.
Allowing users to edit only fields that may require manual adjustment before export.

How Export Settings Work with Field Mappings

Field mappings determine which HubSpot properties receive Cognism data.

Export settings determine:

Whether existing records can be updated.
Whether users can edit mapped values before exporting.
Which fields are visible during the export process.

Together, these settings control how records are exported to HubSpot.
