Uploading a CSV File of Companies

Upload a CSV file of company names or company domains to quickly search for multiple companies at once.

This feature is useful when you already have a list of target accounts and want to enrich company information or identify contacts within those organisations.

Before You Begin

Ensure that:

• You are logged in to the Cognism Legacy Platform.
• Your CSV file contains company names or company domains.

• The CSV contains a maximum of 1,000 companies.

  Note: Company Search supports uploads using either company names or company domains.

Upload a Company CSV

1. Open Prospector.
2. Select the Company tab.
3. Under General Information, locate either:
   • Company Name, or
   • Company Domain.
4. Click the three-dot menu next to the filter.
5. Select Upload CSV.
6. Choose your CSV file.
7. Confirm the upload.

The uploaded companies are automatically added to your search criteria.

Only one company identifier is required.

Review the Results

After the upload:

• Matching companies appear in the search results.
• The Companies Found counter updates automatically.
• You can continue refining the search using any additional Company filters.

What Can I Do Next?

Once your companies have been matched, you can:

• View company information.
• Download the company data as a CSV.
• Select companies and click Find Contacts to search for people working at those organisations.
• Save the search for future use.

Best Practices

• Upload company domains whenever possible, as they generally provide the most accurate matches.
• Ensure company names are spelled correctly.
• Remove duplicate companies before uploading.

• Keep uploads to 1,000 companies or fewer.

  Tip: If your goal is to update company information in your CRM, upload your company names or domains to Company Search, then download the updated company data as a CSV. The Enhance feature is designed for updating contacts, not company records.

Troubleshooting

Why weren't all companies matched?

Some companies may not exist in the Cognism database, or the company name or domain may not match available records.

Using company domains generally improves match accuracy.

Can I upload both company names and domains?

Yes.

You can upload a CSV using either company names or company domains, depending on the information available.

Is there a limit on the number of companies?

Yes.

Each upload supports a maximum of 1,000 companies.

Does uploading a CSV consume credits?

No.

Uploading and searching for companies does not consume credits.

Credits are only consumed when revealing contact data or using other credit-consuming workflows.
