After your Salesforce data has been imported and processed (using Data Sync in Cognism) Prospector includes Salesforce-specific filters that help you identify new prospects, avoid duplicate records, and target accounts owned by specific Salesforce users.
These filters are available in both Contact Search and Company Search.
Note: Salesforce filters only appear after the Salesforce Data Import has completed successfully.
Contact Search
Open Prospector and select the Contact tab.
The CRM section of the filter panel provides several Salesforce filters.
Exclude Existing Leads and Contacts
Enable the CRM toggle to remove records that already exist in your Salesforce instance.
When enabled, you can choose to:
- Exclude existing Leads.
- Exclude existing Contacts.
- Exclude both Leads and Contacts.
This is useful when prospecting for entirely new contacts that do not already exist in Salesforce.
Filter by Record Owner
Use the Record Owner filter to search based on the owner of existing Salesforce records.
You can:
- Search across All Owners.
- Select one or more specific Salesforce users.
This helps target prospects related to records owned by a particular sales representative or team.
Search Existing Accounts
Select the Accounts option to find contacts who work for companies that already exist in Salesforce.
You can further refine the search by:
- Account Owner
- Exclude Existing Contacts
This is useful when looking for additional contacts within your existing customer or prospect accounts.
Company Search
Open Prospector and select the Company tab.
The Salesforce filters allow you to narrow companies based on your CRM data.
Filter by Account Owner
Use Account Owner to search companies owned by one or more Salesforce users.
Select:
- All Owners, or
- One or more specific account owners.
You can also exclude companies owned by selected users if required.
Filter by Account Type
Use Account Type to search companies based on their Salesforce Account Type.
You can:
- Include one or more account types.
- Exclude selected account types from the results.
Troubleshooting
Salesforce Filters Are Not Visible
If the Salesforce filters do not appear in Prospector:
- Confirm that your Salesforce integration has been configured.
- Verify that the Salesforce Data Import has completed successfully.
- If the import is still running or has become stuck, allow it to finish or contact your Salesforce administrator.
Record Owners Are Missing
If expected record owners do not appear in the filter:
- Confirm that the Salesforce Data Import has completed successfully.
- Verify that the records in Salesforce are assigned to the correct owner.
- Check that the owner information has been synchronised into Cognism.
I Can't See My Accounts or Records
If expected accounts or contacts are missing from the search results:
- Confirm that you have permission to view those records in Salesforce.
- Verify that record ownership is correctly assigned in Salesforce.
- If your organisation uses Salesforce sharing rules, ensure that you have access to the records you are trying to filter.
If the issue persists after confirming the above, contact your Salesforce administrator and/or Cognism support team.
